Blogger Interview

Influencer marketing is no longer an up-and-coming type of marketing. Bloggers are now part of the mix.

More brands are using influencers to reach their target audience than ever before, while others are still timid to start. It can be daunting to take the leap of faith and let others speak for your brand. Understandably, many have questions and don’t fully grasp the process.

To ease these fears we’ve asked a few helpful questions to one of our amazing bloggers to better understand the process from their point of view. Amy Ann Arnold runs her blog Straight A Style from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Here’s what she had to share about her experiences.

Q: How long have you been blogging?

A:I started a personal blog in 2010 which slowly evolved into a fashion blog reflecting my true passion for style. Straight A Style officially launched in May 2015 when I rebranded and made fashion my sole focus.

Q:What is one of your favorite memories of being a blogger?

A: My favorite blogging memory was going to NYFW during the fall of 2015. I had no idea what I was doing and will be more prepared next time. Nonetheless, it was amazing to meet other bloggers, attend events, and go to my first show. Not to mention, just be in NYC!

Q: Do you think people know how hard you work?

A: I don’t think most people understand all the work that goes into a successful blog. It’s a bit of a foreign world if you don’t live in it. I had no idea when I started.

Q: What do you look for in a brand partnership?

A: First and foremost, I look for a brand that is true to my personal style and is something my readers will enjoy. I also analyze how this collaboration can be mutually beneficial. Are they willing to pay for a sponsored post? Are they in the affiliate network I participate in? Is a chance of being shared on their social media, and if so, is that audience going to broaden mine?

Q: What do you think brands look for?

A: I assume brands do much of the same analyzing. They have to look at whether or not their investment in me will benefit them and their image.

Q:What would you like brands to know/ consider when working with a blogger?

A: I’m far from being a “big” blogger, and I am personally always so glad when big name brands are willing to work with me. I see huge benefit in the everyday woman sharing brands they actually wear. It’s authentic and reachable.

Q: What do you look for during and after a campaign has happened?

A: I’m a detail oriented person. Blogging is not my main job, so it’s important for me to stay organized and plan ahead. My post schedule is set weeks in advance, and I take photos over the weekend when my photographer husband is free. I work to communicate effectively with brands and assume they will do the same for me so we all benefit from a smooth and timely partnership.

Q: What do you see in the future for brands and bloggers working together?

A: Bloggers are really becoming such an important piece of advertising, and I love that brands are embracing partnerships. I’m always amazed at the creativity on both ends.
